INTEGRATING THE CORPORATION Fusion is in the business of “pulling corporations together.” The last century has demonstrated the power of specialization and “departmental silos” in corporate life. It’s a powerful approach to efficient structure! One problem though, it separates people from their colleagues, their customers and their lives. While there’s a good chance that if we focus narrowly we can achieve a specific profit goal, it’s more and more likely that we’ll defeat ourselves in the larger game – quality of life, career and character. We think the pieces of our organizations and their efficient structure have converged to distance us from the benefits we started out to achieve. OK, we admit it. We think we’re the “good guys.” “Greater Good.” “Holistic Practitioners.” “Ethics.“ The point of a presentation is not exclusively to look good; it may also be about getting a mutually beneficial business result. The point of a meeting is not just to discuss or express something, but to reach a consensus and move on to a meaningful outcome. We don't promote the use of graphics and pictures because they're pretty, but because one third of the audience prefers them. Another third also prefers to interact, not just sit there mute while someone drones on up front. You “word and number people” need your data; but wouldn’t it help to serve it up in a way that everyone expects and recalls for later? Ethics is not the “appearance of goodness.” It’s genuine goodness. The point of business communication is not self-expression, but expression with a purpose – about selling products, servicing customers and improving corporate activity. The point of a manager is not the sheer exercise of power for personal gain, but to create a “rational workplace” for all concerned. “To get things done through others.” A corporation exists to do things for people they can’t do alone. (Stop us if we get shrill!) And finally... Wow! Wouldn’t it be fun to work to build a business with these values? To work in a company with these ideas? That’s why we’re here. To help you build it. Yes, we can help you: Present, Manage and Produce Meetings better. Build corporate stories that you’ll be proud to hear and prouder to tell. Build a corporation that communicates beautifully, delivers on its promises, and runs the place in a way that keeps the process working for the long term. Oh yeah, let’s not forget that this can be fun! We can help you learn to manage, and encourage; not repress your peers. We can help you senior folks shoulder the incredible burden of improving these creaking corporate behemoths we’ve created for the next century. We can provide counsel as you wrestle with how to do all that and improve quality of life, career and character. For all of us. Not just the preferred stock holders.
