Light Emerges from Darkness

“There is a field beyond all notions of right and wrong. Come, meet me there.”
— Rumi
Sufi Poet and Mystic
1207 – 1273

Lots of people are upset about lots of things — some, with actual reason.  On reflection, it seems to come down to being Critical of Ourselves or Critical of Others.

Self:
Many of us suffer from attempting to meet an impossible (even a Godlike) standard of perfection.  We’re not Good enough.  Tall enough.  Smart enough.  Forgiving enough.  Rich enough or Charitable enough.  Careful, Thoughtful, Observant enough. Tough enough, Gentle enough.  Creative enough or Kind enough… That’s it.  Better to fall on your sword than go another day without measuring up…

Others:
Then again, it could be that it’s really Those Other People who don’t measure up…  Maybe we should dispatch them first…

As it turns out, compulsively seeking, or demanding perfection of one’s self, (or others) seems to be a difficult path.  Talk about the Tyranny of Perfection…

What if we, in this time of Rebirth, simply accept, concentrate on, and give thanks for what we can all agree upon?  Accept that all the blessings of this life, this family, this planet, this physical body, and the people we share existence with, are perhaps not perfect.  But if we try, we can make everything just a little better.  Pause. Breathe.  And allow the Light to Emerge from the Darkness.

There is a field.  Come!  We’ll meet you there!
